The New Maple Ski Ridge After School Club.

If your school does not provide transportation call your supervisor and ask or put a group together yourself. If enough are interested a bus can be paid for at a very reasonable rate thru your district.

If you are transporting- your child may start skiing/riding at 3 pm and stay on the Mtn. till 9pm. If they choose to take lessons the time will be announced. The kids have time to practice before and after their lessons.

If they are NOT taking lessons they can exercise to their (Your) hearts content. (Aunt Katie has decided that homework is optional on ski/ride nights. I will provide a note for the teacher :)

New BURTON learn to Ride program.

Rad Riders

Rad Riders Group lessons- Saturdays at 9:30 and 1:30; Sundays at 11:30.

Limited attendence, as this program will have only 1 group for each session, with only 6 children in each group.

Ages 5 thru 7 who have never ridden a snowboard before can have fun and learn basic “tricks” with a snowboard on level ground, as well as the basics of sliding and learning a beginning uphill lift. Their success depends on the use of correct equipment, so the children MUST rent the appropriate Burton Learn-to-Ride equipment from Maple Ski Ridge. These children have 4 hours on snow, 1.5 of which is in class.

The After School Program

The After School Program is open to all school children. The students arrive at Maple Ski Ridge anytime between 3:00 PM and 4:00PM, Tuesday thru Friday.

This is an opportunity to get out in the fresh air with their school friends and learn a sport that can last a lifetime.

Fee includes 1-hour lesson and the Twilight Area Use Ticket(3:00 PM till 9:00 PM). These groups are slightly larger than the groups in the weekend programs.

The Weekend Programs are designed to give the whole family a fun time with snow sports. From 4 year olds through shredder-happy teens on snowboards and the Dads who want to keep up with them, to the hesitant Moms and Grandmothers in the Smooth Touch classes, Schenectady Ski School provides instruction for everyone who wants to enjoy a snowy winter.

Ski Tykes

Tykes Ages 4 and 5 spend 4 hours on the snow, 1.5 of which is the class time. They learn the movements needed to control their skis in a fun/play environment in the Snow Castle. With a Pooh Bear theme, each “Team” of up to 8 children has a primary “coach” and an assistant “coach” to lead them on a Bear hunt through the forest, through the alligator pond, making snowflake turns, scooter skiing, and much more.

Ski Stars

Ski Star Kids Ages 6 and 7 who are either just beginning to ski, or have come out of the Tykes program and need refreshers on some basics. They pursue the instructors around traffic cones, handle a “Magic Stick”, and have conversations with Lucy,Linus, Snoopy and Charlie Brown. These children have 4 hours on snow, 1.5 of which is in class.

Snowboarding

For ages 7 and up. Students are grouped according to age and ability for 1.5 hour lessons weekly. The groups mostly stay together with the same instructor throughout the full 7 weeks, with the exception of individuals whoprogress at a vastly different rate than the majority of the class. These individuals will be moved to an appropriate group. The specialty of all 7-week programs with Schenectady Ski School is tracking each student individually to be certain they are learning at the proper level.

Excitement for All

Skiing & Snowboarding Group lessons. For all ages, men, women and children, skiers and snowboarders, new and experienced. Students are grouped according to age and ability for 1.5 hour lessons weekly.

The Smooth Touch

Women who prefer to learn from and with other women are grouped according to their ability; women instructors coach the groups. The camaraderie developed in these groups and the flexibility of learning patterns has made this program a favorite! Limited enrollment, so register early. Ages 13 and up.

The Evening Programs (PDF downlaod)

Adult beginners in both snowboarding and skiing are encouraged to develop the skills necessary to truly enjoy winter in the Northeast. This 6 week program includes a Twilight Area Use Ticket and a 1.5 hour lesson each week.Cost is 250.00 pp Rentals included. The lessons start at 7pm. Private Lessons by Appointment

All ages are welcome. Some students find that a concentrated 1-hour lesson with their very own instructor can produce remarkable results… that “Ah- Ha!!” feeling that we all love so much. If you have a favorite instructor you may request himor her; if you do not know our staff we will match you with an instructor with an appropriate style, and try to arrange a time at your convenience.
